Lights

I just bought a 2000 Contour and I love it. I just used it to drive home in the dark and relized that it is very hard to see what gear you are shifting into (automatic) because there is no light. Is there supposed to be one or did they not bother to put a light under it?

check the fuses and if that;s not it, replace the bulb under the console.
