Regeny Sound System

I am going to be replacing the stock stereo here soon. i was just wondering what kind of kit i need, becuase iknow the stock is way taller then the pioneer im going to get. so if osmeone could tell me what i need to install it, i know about eerything else im just not sure whati need to mount the headunit.

I also have a question about amps and subs.

im looking @ 2 Pioneer 12" subs. 1000W Rms and 3000W peak. this is @ 4ohms. now the amp im looking @ is a boss audio PD300. its peak power is @ 1/2 ohm. do i need a 3000W @ 4ohm to achieve maximum power on those subs?

If you ahve any suggestions please post them.
This is the ocmbination that met my requirments of large performance in on a small budget, on ebay im looking @ about 1000$ for a pair of both.

if it matters there going to be hooked upto a Pionner DEH-P8MP
its got 3 sets of 6.5V outputs.

so leave me ansuggestions or comments, everything is appreciated.

Did the same thing in my mom's back when she still had the car. What you need is a mounting kit for GM cars, and a wiring harness for the '78-'87 model year GMs. You're looking at about $20 for both. The hardest thing is getting the dash apart to put the radio in. It's a pain to get to.

PM me if you have any questions. I've still got the old GM service manual for that car and could copy some pages if you need it.

Re: Regeny Sound System

That's a nice stereo. Yes, there are mounting kits for your vehicle. Goto www.metraonline.com and look up your car. There a plenty to choose from.

Those subs look great. I've never heard them though. I had a small Pioneer sub way back when that sounded great. As for the amp, I also can't comment on it. My experiance on Boss amps is very poor. They are usually bottom basement stuff and over inflate their numbers. I am impressed though they have a .5ohm amp. Personally, I'd look at the 2400d amp from Directed http://directed.com/audio/amps/default.asp

Those subs are DVC @ 4ohm so since you will have only 2, the lowest ohm rating you'll have is 1ohm.

Re: Regeny Sound System

i heard a pair of these subs that my friend had mounted. they sounded quite nice. i might pair them with 2 audiobahn 18"s later this summer, for more vibration if this isnt enough, which i probable will be. im getting the neons installed this week or next hopefully.

if those subs are 4 ohms, dont i need a 3000x1 @ 4 ohms to reach the peak?
