I've just recently noticed when hitting the drivethru that I hear my steering sqeak when turning the wheel. Checked the power steering level and it was okay. I have 75,000 miles and besides brakes and oil changes, I haven't had any other problems. Any suggestions would be great!

Sounds like your front U-joints then. They will pop like that when you make a sharp turn.

I am afraid it is fairly normal. But you should get them check out ASAP.

Re: Beginner DIY - Squeaky steering 2002/1500/4.7L
When was the last time you lubed your suspension? My 98 Ram groans and moans too upon steering when the zirc-fitted joints are do for a grease change. The interval for lubes is 6-months or 12-miles give-or-take. I'm going by memory so please someone feel free to correct me.
Anywho, after I lube my truck - BAM; groans are gone and steering is OEM stock smooth. I'm getting into the habit of doing a lube-job everytime I change my oil. It's quick, easy and beats the steering/suspension groans! |
