Check Enging Light on 99

Check engine light came on and stayed on the other day. The quick change oil place pulled the code and they indicated it was the auxillary exhaust. Anyone have an idea what this means?

?? Did not know there was an auxillary exhaust. Have codes read again and post code numbers back.

Simple.....replace your O2 sensor(s) Any check engine light on MOST cars referrs to an emissions problem...i.e. the O2 sensor. Then have them reset the light or if you dont mind reprogramming your radio stations again..just disconnect the battery for a couple of minutes. Hope this helps!!

Do not replace O2 sensors until you have determined that is the problem. Jammer is right that the light means there is a problem in the emission system. However, there are many more sensors and root causes for the check engine light to come on. Have codes read and post back the code that was pulled from PCM. Gas cap can be loose, vacuum hose have a small hole in it, exhaust have a small leak. Even if it is the O2 sensors, the repair manual has you check BASIC engine first. If it is "Secondary Air Injection System" instead of secondary exhaust, there is a long test and 4 or 5 components that need tested. Post back and let us know.
