Unhappy My 318is is teasing me

hi, im new to the forum and im hoping anyone will be able to help me. I was given a 93 318is which i love, but i am unable to drive it because Im sure it will die on me. I drove it about 1,000mi after getting it and everything was fine except for the bodywork that needs to be fixed in the back and it died on me as if i turned the key off. it had been raining for a few days and the trunk doesnt seal too well because of the fenderbender it was in. I dont know why it died but now i cant get it to die again so i can fix the problem. fuel pump? relay? water somewher? HELP PLEASE!

Confused ? ? ?

The car died . . . it started again . . . and it won't die again . . . ? ? ?

If it were hit in the rear . . check battery connections . . the battery is in the trunk.

THanks for replying. No it isnt the battery because when it died the electronics and starter still work it was just not getting fuel or spark. The problem is, now that i got it home it hasnt died again to see whether it was fuel or spark. Im thinking there also might be a sensor in the back like some cars have that cut the power to the fuel pump if it has been rear ended, but i havent been ablle to find one yet.
