Window slot seal? Take a trip to the dealer and point it out on their parts screen, any GM dealer should be able to look it up. They may have to look at the SPID label in the trunk?

sorry, its not the part that directly surrounds the window but the little 1 inch ledge/lip on the outside next to it. i guess i could just have them look at it and tell me. thanks.

Re: what is the name of this?

It might be some sort of weatherstripping. On the driver door of my Intrigue, this black part is starting to seperate from the chrome trim, so now it kind of flips up. Maybe I'll take a pic of it to make sure we're on the right page.

There was recently a topic about this weatherstripping on ModernOlds.net Here's the link to the specific topic

I think this is what you are talking about, I hope.

We used to refer to this seal as the window slot seal.

I found this picture in the factory service manual under the section entitled: Sealing Strip Replacement - Front Door Window Belt Outer

click this link to see the picture

Re: what is the name of this?

mine started cracking and breaking off, especially when going through the car wash, i just broke it all off, and carefully used electrical tape to like it up, a couple of layers and it looks good as new, the tapes lasted through snow and ice storms its working great

Re: what is the name of this?

Laser did make a good point. it does look like a strip of electrical tape. Is this weatherstripping neccessary because it looks like its there for more effects than for weather. im thinking about just taken it off becuase i like the chrome look.

Re: what is the name of this?

watch the chrome will rust, this is the reason my trim came off... i don't think the chrome under the trim was ever treated to resist weather
