96 tercel 5efe -low oil pressure warning light ?

My 96 tercel with engine 5EFE, believe that's 93 hp has been running okay since purchased. Maybe a month ago I had the oil changed then yesterday noticed the low oil pressure warning light come on briefly, then off, and back on, so on and so forth, always only briefly. Today I checked the oil level on dip stick and it couldn't be read? Burning oil? Only 120km? I was running synthetic oil, perhaps that saved the engine because from my calculation it took 2.5 quarts to fill? Checked around one mechanic told me all tercel's burn oil? Other's have mentioned the oil pump? Another want's to rebuild engine? Still another say's something about unplugging the "gvr" ? Seekn some advise...?

I have the same issue. It doesn't seem to be a problem though. I have to put a quart in every second time I fill the gas tank(every 600 miles). It doesn't leak oil and it doesn't smoke from the tail pipe. The Tercel just uses oil fast. I have the BlackHawk model(I removed the decal/sticker though) which has a 3 speed auto transmission(yuk). Highway driving at the higher RPMs might have something to do with the fast oil usage. I bought the car on an ebay auction, had the oil changed(among other things) and I was very surprised that I didn't have any oil 3 weeks later...
