97' intake question

Hey guys, finally got a TJ and I'm looking to make life alittle easier for my engine. I had a question about the 'cold' air intakes they sell. There are a bunch on ebay right now, and there seem to be 2 different kinds. One just has a small alum. tube, a heat sheild and the cone type filter, so basically it just replaces the air box. The other type of intake has the same stuff but also has a longer pipe that replaces the whole stock intake system. Is there much of a difference between the two? The one that replaces the whole system has kind of a smaller pipe than the stock set up, so to me that is kind of restricking the air flow right? Just a novice guess though, thought I would ask before I made a decsion. Thanks in advance

The kit with the longer pipe that goes all the way to the throttle body is the way to go. It won't allow the air to get as hot as the plastic OEM. You definately want a kit with a heat shield as well.
