Exclamation Air Intake Very Important.....

Hey i installed an air intake system on my GA 01 2.4 and honestly i think it has improved air flow my car idles alot more, i was curious what would happen if the air intake wasnt hooked up properly or of there was no air filter hooked up to the engine, what could happen,? what would you notice after removing the stock system and installin an aftermarket one, what are some changed you would feel in the car...?

Re: Air Intake Very Important.....

If the system isn't hooked up properly you would pull air in from areas not protected by the filter which could destroy an engine under normal driving conditions and since I think it's safe to asume you are not tearing down and rebuilding the engine after every time you take the car for a spin this holds true. Same goes for not having an air filter installed.

As far as differences, depending on how sensitive you are to changes in your cars performance, you should notice an increase in throttle response and at higher RPM you should feel a slight increase in pulling power. Don't expect to blow people off the line or win races yet though, because an intake upgrade will only boost HP by about 5%, or roughly 8HP on average if this is the only mod that you have done so far. I would suggest following up with a high flow cat and muffler to really help boost HP with the new intake. If this is done you could realistically expect to gain about 10% more HP or close to 15HP. Add a header with that exhaust and it gets even better.

Oh yeah, I'll bet it sounds pretty sweet now too.
