towing with escape

Any Escape owners in here towed anything with yours? I was wandering how it might handle a 14' bass boat. I have the V6 in an 03. My Dodge Ram V6 handled it pretty well, but it was ofcourse a truck. Any thoughts???

Towing

I had an 02 v6 and now an 05... i have 2 seadoo's that I have moved too and from a few hours away and back, really didnt have too much of a problem, other than gas milage sucked, but it was fine. Unless your bass boat is weighed down with a bunch of stuff, it should be okay. Not to be dumb, but is it alum boat?

If its in 4x2 the max is like 6980lbs the books says, if its in 4x4 with the 3.0 you can go to 7160. Mind you this is saying the trailer itself should not be more than 3500 pounds on either, but what you PUT on the trailer depends slightly on 4x2 or 4x4... ACCORDING to the book... Good luck, besides, I'm sure my trailer and 2 sea doos, probably are about the same weight as that boat and I dont have problems...

Best wishes,

Doug

thanks for the info. The boat is fiberglass, but being a 14', its really not all that heavy. I just didnt know how stout the rear suspension on the Escape really is. I wanted to hear from someone like you who's actually pulled some stuff. Thanks again.

Re: Towing

Yeah, if its that really shouldnt be a problem. I am sure my trailer for both seadoo's and the seadoos probably outweigh your boat anyway, so I don't see a problem at all. I've hauled a heavy 4 wheeler too. Gas milage will be cut a little, but other than that, I don't see a problem. If you really are worried, call your dealership. I'm assuming your 02 came with that hitch, just read your book, or call the dealership if you are concerned. I've not had a problem, I just bought an 05 and still tow it.

Thanks

Doug
