1986 Grand Am Starts, Runs and Cuts-off

I just bought a 1986 Grand Am, it needed a power steering pump which I already replaced. I went to start the car and it ran for a good 10-15 minutes then suddenly it stop. I tried to re-start, it winds but will not start. Let it sit for about 5 minutes went to start and started again, this time ran for no more than 5 minutes and stopped again. It did this scenario about 3 times.
I do not know much about cars, I am lost for what would be causing this. Any insight anyone could offer would be a great help. Thanks

PS: this car sat for about 8 months at wrecker yard until I bought it.
It has 3.0 fuel injected motor.

Almost sounds like fuel delivery bugaboo. Since your ride is so old, and was sitting for a while~~~

Fule pump going west. Try a fuel pressure check.

Clogged fuel filter, replace [ it likely in fuel to engine line, right near the gas tank under the car]

Bad gas, try to drain the tank, or toss in some stuff that evaporates water.

Toss in a concentrated injector cleaner, injectors may be gunked up.

Spray clean the throttle body air intake, outside linkages and the butterfly.

Outside of that, unsure what to suggest.

you might have just one or two bad injectors(if they are the problem). Sometimes you can run the engine at about 2500 rpm, which will be fast enough for the remaining cylinders to keep it running. It sounds like either bad gas, or just a sticky injector.

Do all the things Knifeblade suggested

Had same problem. Did the pump, filter, cleaner and injector. Would run with gas down throttle body and good pressure there also with injector pulled. It was the injector. Good Luck
