Oil Leak - Rear Valve Cover

I have a 2000 Monte Carlo SS with 109k miles and noticed a burning oil smell and some smoke from the engine. I located an oil leak on the rear valve cover. Does anyone see a problem with just trying to tighten the bolts a little, rather than replacing the gasket?
