Question Xenon lightbulbs

Hi! I have a '99 Passat and was wondering if I could replace the regular lightbulbs in the headlights with Xenon lights. I'm completely ignorant in this matter and wanted to find out. Thanks!

Yes, and it is quite easy. I didn't install xenons but instead installed sylvania silverstars and the visual improvement is almost undescribable!

In your engine compartment the backsides of the light assemblies have circular, black rubber covers. Upon removing the cover you will see the terminal end of the bulb where the rubber-booted wiring harnesses are pushed on the bulb terminals. Gently pull off the wiring harness. Next squeeze in the metal springs and pull outward. This will free the bulb from its cradle in the refractive lens compartment. Pull the bulb out and install the new high performance bulb in the reverse manner.

The is a difference in the high and low bulbs. Ask the salesman at your auto parts store to make sure you get a pair of each.
