evo or sti which is better

Which do you think is a better car the evo or the sti?

sti's are slow and unreliable, evo's are alot better, but i prefer my mirage!

Neither is "better." its personal preference. since when is an STi slow? last time i checked 300hp was alot. anyway, they are both very capable and the general consensus seems to be "try them and pick which feels right" they are very similar. the STi is a little more demanding, "raw" if you will. The Evo Is more controlled. Personaly I would take the STi, but its pretty much a tie.

well after being in numerous STI's including the new 260kw special edition, and previously owned an evo 4, been in all evo's apart from the 8, the STI in my opinion gets left in the dust with all aspects. considering even the brand new STI's have the same gearbox problems as the earlier models. also the boxxer engine is a bitch to work on, especially to change the spark plugs. the evo is by far more user friendly and responds heaps better to modifications, let alone resale value is absolute crap when it comes to the subaru, i can go on if you like?

the evo is better because the sti is unreliable and the engine is to far over the wheels so you get understeer the evo u dont

besides the fact i just bought a 05 evo VIII.... if you look at all the reviews and comparisons of the 2 cars the evo 8 comes out on top every time. you can go back through 2-3 yrs of super street and read the comparisons and you will see the evo8 on top every time.

BUT i do have to say in looks wise though the sti is the better looking of the 2 fugly cars.

Evo = good in straight races
Sti = good in dirt and races with all type of corners

Evo win against the STi in a straight line but STi win in dirt and track races

The evo's handeling is really the deciding point between the two cars. they are almost identical in power, and speed, the the evo corners and handels MUCH better then the sluggish STi. So...

STi= good in straigh races

Evo = better in twisties.

Also, the fact that the Evo is an I4 makes it a dream come true. For anyone that has ever rebuilt, or even worked on an engine knows that the Inline engine is fairly easy to work on, vs. a V or an boxer type engine.

I have raced an sti in my evo they are pretty much the same one race he beat me by half a car length and the next i beat him by half a car length i have also driven an sti they seem alot quicker but thats only bc of the gear ratio its a six speed evo 8 is a 5 speed but all in all i think they are both good cars.

i have driven both now and am totally confused. I thought i was a die hard evo fan, but now the STi is calling my name. THe dealer guy said the STi had much better awd system and handeling? is that true? from what i understand the evo was supposed to have better handeling, but then the dealer guy gave me all these reasons why the STi had better handeling. Is the dealer guy right, or is he totally biased?

it depends on what you want, subarus are more popular i think, but i would have an evo all day, much more for the money

i think both cars perform thesame, the evo takes it in looks and handling but if i was you i would go with the one that has the least insurance rates. what the hell, the performance are basicallythe same

Hmm this is a great question in a Lancer forum. I'd say most people in here are going to biased towards the Evo. If it were me, damn, i'd have to drive both. But right now, I think i'd have to take the Evo.
