Dashboard orange warning light

I have just got a 1999 3cyl Opel Corsa and it has just started flashing an orange light on the dashboard - it looks like an engine with a small flash inside it - presumably its something to do with the electrics. Also sometimes when the light comes on the engine stutters as if its misfiring.

Any ideas whats wrong?

Does the battery or alternator need replacing?

Many thanks,
Steve

I'm not entirely sure, but I believe this is the "maintenance warning light". I own a Corsa C from 2002 and it has a weird orange light that tells me, when it is time to take the car back for a maintenace job.

I can't tell you why your car isn't running smooth, but bear in my that the maintenance could be well over due!

Heythere,

I dunno if you need help now, seemin as its August, but I know exactly what your problem is..
My Corsa 1.0 Sting did exactly the same thing... They replaced my Catalitic converter... thought itd be ok, but it wasnt...
Took it back to the garage, and they had to put a new sensor in the engine... as the engine was misfiring... it was the crankshaft sensor... and because it had been misfiring etc, the interior of one of the vavles (maybe an o2 vavle) had been worn away and that needed replacing.... it all came to about £700!!!

My jaw hit the floor... the mechanic showed me the engine part and it was tiiiiinnnny!!

Hope this helps... or if not... never mind

Re: Dashboard orange warning light

Hey There

I also have a 2000 Corsa and the exact same thing was happening to my car. The light is you engine management light and when I got a diagnostic check on my car it turned out to be a problem with my air intake valve (like your carberetor??)

I had been driving it for a little while and it was intermitant but eventually the light stayed on one day and I bunny hopped it all the way home!!! Eventually got a mechanic friend to fix it and it cost me about £60.

Hope this helps....
