94 GC - Upper Control Arm Bushings

I have a 94 GC 2WD -

I was told I need to replace my Upper Control Arm Bushings. The Mechanic wants $400 for this job. I have consulted my repair manual and an on-line auto aprts dealer. The manual make is look easy and the parts are only about $30-$40.

Has anyone done this before - that last time I changed busings was over 10 years ago and I was youger and stronger then -

The car akes a lot of noises when we hit little bumps -

Thanks for your help .

Matt

Can't guarentee the noises will go away with Upper CA bushings but they could...depends on the noise. Is it a creak or a knock or thump?

Anyway...they are a pain, especially if you don't have an air hammer. That price is mostly labor (and I would assume an alignment at about $70 is in there as well)

The upper control arm bushings isnt that hard to replace and the new replacement ffrom Moog is a 2 piece which makes it easier. The hard part is the axle bushings which cause alot of shimmy. They are a real pain to get out even with a press. The only place Icould get them from besides the Stealer is E_Bay for $20 for both plus shipping.

Yes, thanks for the clarification Cam7. The axle side is the hard part.
