Problems Driving Me Nuts

'97 Jimmy With 2 electrical problems.
1) Interior Lights:When both doors close the "map lighhts" and the lights in the footwells do not go out after @ 30 seconds like they should. They also do not go out (as they should) when the car is started. The only way to turn them off is to pull the fuse. Is there a "timer" or relay somewhere that may be blown?

2) Rear glass hatch will not open automatically from the switch on the dash or by using the key in the rear door. I've taken out the solonoid from under the rear door panel and put 12v directly to it and it works!
When I test the contunity from the switch on the dash to the pigtail to the solonoid there is power?

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.
Steve

I have a 97 and I had a problem with my fuses shortling out when I hit my brakes. Have you had any work done to your hitch or your lights in the rear of your vehicle. I found that the little white ground wire under my hitch was grounding out. Once I fixed that all my problem have gone away. One little wire ^%^#%#^*&*.

Re: Problems Driving Me Nuts

sounds like one of the door switches is not working properly and I would replace them both.

As for the back glass, we need to know more about what you have done to the rear of the vehicle? Have you checked that fuse?

Yeah, I had the problem where the rear glass would only work occasionally. Then I realized that my ground strap was frayed and needed to be replaced.
