Talking Pulled my engine earlier :)

Yeah I finally got around to doing it. Started working on it at noon, finished up just before 3. Motor was out Needed to pull it because I believe #4 piston ring is shot and because I have a minor oil leak that needs fixed. I am also going to detail everything. My car probably won't be rolling for a week or so though. First time I ever pulled my own motor It was pretty fun. Not hard at all really. I've included some pics.

my friend Mike hugging my motor lol

pic of me humping my 4g63 after i cleaned up and showered gettin ready for the night out lol

Lmao

Nice job bro. I can see the quality front bumper you were writing about earlier. Is that the stock SMIC? It looks pretty big.

Nice hump job. lol.

For future reference, its not good to smoke with an engine, and use protection if your humping get 'out of hand'

Nice work. Nothing like doing the work on your own.

My 7 bolt even had a perfect sized hole in the block so that I could......look in it.

Re: Pulled my engine earlier :)

yeah as soon as i posted "lmao" i thought to myself "post whore" lol. oh well, though. funny shit.

here's the update:

trying to find a rebuild kit on e-bay for cheap.
started detailing stuff. my goal is to make my engine look nice and clean
was thinking about doing an EGR blockoff but i've read more cons than pros about it.
today i'll be cleaning out the IC pipes, TB, etc and possibly going up to Summit to get an oil catch can.
looking for a good downpipe. one that doesn't eliminate the cat due to emissions.
still trying to figure out why the fuck my tranny says F5M31 on it.......

Re: Pulled my engine earlier :)

well i got around and fixed just about everything with my motor. i found out why i was leaking oil....the relief valve plug was where it was leaking from...the damn thing wasn't even torqued! so i torqued it pretty good and put some silicon around it just to be extra safe. my block and head were FILTHY. i cleaned every bit of both. took the oil pan off to look for any metal shavings...none found so i cleaned the hell out of the pan, got new RTV high temp sealant and put it back on. even replaced the washer on the drain plug. replaced the exhaust manifold gasket, was going to replace the intake manifold gasket but the one autozone gave me (felpro) was the wrong one...so i gotta take that back later today. took the thermostat off, cleaned the hell out of it and painted it gloss black. sealed it with new RTV and put it back on...cleaned the hell out of the intake manifold, throttle body and elbow. painted the elbow gloss black too. polished up the T/B. when i had the turbo off, i cleaned and polished that too lol. i think to finish this off, i'm going to get new spark plugs and a new O2 sensor. the sensor has 95,xxx miles on it. i believe it's time for a new one lol...as for the piston ring. well i'm letting that be for now. when i looked closer at everything, i noticed the boot for #4 spark plug wasn't seated all the way. the rest of the wires were fine, except #4. and i know i get a lot of oil down by the wire boots so it probably leaked in. all i need to do now is get an intake manifold and oil return line gaskets and an O2 sensor then i'm throwin' her back in the car. hooking everything back up, filling the tranny with full synthetic gear lube, using Castrol Full Synthetic 10W - 40 for the engine along with Lucas Oil Treatment (synthetic), fill up on antifreeze and after everything is said and done, it's going to start right up and not give me a single problem! lol....something's gotta go wrong.
