91 escort door won't unlock

I was locked out of my car last night had to call a locksmith he tryed the passengers side for a while then opened drivers. today when I whent to unlock passengers side the dorr will not unlock tryed pulling up from inside tryed with key. can't get door panel all the way off because a few snaps are covered by dash. I did get it partway off to find that a spring looks like it has come off of something it is still attached on one end is there any way to get somthing in there and open door so I can get a better look? please help I dopn't like people getting in and out of my car dukes of hazsard stile

Did the locksmith try to pick the cylinder on the lock or did he use a slim jim? If he used a slim-jim (flat metal strap between the glass and the door) he possibly could have knocked one of the lock actuating rods from the latch assembly. If you can get the panel loose on the back half of the door you might be able to get in there and check for any loose rods. If you find a loose rod you might be able to snap it back into the door latch assembly. If you can get hold of the 1/8 inch rod going to the latch assembly which is where the striker plate is ( you might be able to unlock it by pulling on the metal rod with a pair of pliers.
Then you could go ahead and get the panel off and fix it.If the locks worked fine before the locksmith worked on your car you might get back to him and let him know what had happened. Try to get him to come back and take a look at it and hopefully fix it for you. I wish I could help you more but my knowledge in this area is limited. To everybody reading this post. Get a copy made of your door key and carry it in your billfold or purse.
