electric fan

i got an electric fan and i think i wired it wrong. i wire the power source on the EGN CTRL fuse and put a fuse link on it. than i just grounded the ground wire on the fender. is that right or is there a better way to wire it. i dont think the fan is blowing enough air. my friend told me to put a 4-way relay on it (which i did) but the relay came off and the fan would still work when the car is still on. i thought it wasnt wired right so i just took the relay out and left the fuse link on the power source. i have the temperature sensor for the electric fan but i dont know how to wire it that way. can anyone give me some tips on how to wire it correctly
