Unhappy Low Oil pressure???

I Own a 91 Dodge Stealth and despite other problems the most concerning is my oil pressure. When I start the car it is about one tick above the lowest it should be and after it warns up it becomes very low. I am running 20w50 in it and still the problem. I think it must be the oil pump. Do any of you have information on installing an oil pump. or other ideas.

Wow yea don't drive it, maybe its just the gauge but you should get your actual oil pressure checked, mines being done tomorrow because my gauge goes a bit nutty somtimes.

Re: Low Oil pressure???

I'm beginning to worry about this whole oil pressure deal because the line that connects to my sensor can't be found so my oil pressure gauge doesn't work at all. And since everyone is having problems with it, what if I am too and just don't know it!?!

Re: Low Oil pressure???

Well a 20w oil will thin more than a 10w once the car reaches operating temps...but that probably isn't your entire problem...you are describing what to me seems to be quite low oil pressure.

Some say this is normal, I know mine drops once the car is at a warm idle, but never as low as you are describing...however, I have heard others say theirs has.

So if yours used to be higher, than definantly don't drive the car until you fix the problem, as low oil pressure is the number 1 cause of spun bearings.

The stock gauges are notoriously pretty cheap...they are slow, and it is a good idea to upgrade to an aftermarket one to properly monitor changes.

So just starting with the basics...are you leaking oil? Check in front of driver's tire (common oil leak from the oil cooler lines that I am currently dealing with, it can also leak out the exhaust in older mileage cars...will show up as blue smoke.)
Did you check your oil level? (sorry if this is redundant...I don't mean to insult your intelligence...just making sure)
Also what does your engine idle at when warm?

Slade...check this out:

That might help trace the line...but I would get a working gauge soon...but don't panic

Re: Low Oil pressure???

I think you'd hear it lol, just get the gauge fixed! If that dosent work get an aftermarket oil pressure gauge.

Re: Low Oil pressure???

Yeah, I think mine is like lost forever. Hehe Because I remember over the summer, Musashi was trying to help me locate the line but we couldn't find it. I found the sensor but couldn't find the line so no connection was made. Well, if anyone has any other ideas of how I could find the line (if it's even still there), let me know. Thanks. But yeah, speaking of Musashi, anyone heard from him recently? Haven't seen him on much since he posted the problem with his car again. I think I'll PM him....
