Well friends, I finally broke down and bought the transmission range sensor from the dealer this morning, and replaced the one that was on my car, and I am still having the same problem...
For those that dont know, Ill start my story over again!!! About 4 months ago I was driving my car and my power steering kept going on and off, and the door chime would start dinging, and something that sounded like in my steering column would keep clicking, and my radio would only make sound if the car was in Park, or Neutral. Although the radio wouldnt work in drive, and reverse the unit had power cause the station would continue to show, just no sound from the speakers.. Now the cars power steering is working FINE, and I havent heard the clicking in the column, and the radio is sorta working.. Now the back speakers work all the time, but the front 4 speakers arent working at all!!! My gas gauge still isnt working...... That I can remember that all the problems I am having... Well I read on the forum a few people that had the EXACT same problems that I was and they brought their car to the shop and it was their Transmission Range Sensor. I kept from buying one thinking hat I would buy it, install it, and it would still have the same problem. Well I broke down this morning and bought one, and replaced the old one, and I am still having the exact same problems... I found another guy on the forum that was having some really weird problems with his tail lights, and other things and found out that he had a short in a wire going to his tail-light that was causing the whole problem... Now I a wondering if My problem might be a short.. After I installed the new TR sensor this morning and it didnt fix the problem, I brought my car to Auto-Zone to have the trouble Codes read. It shows that my O2 Sensor on Bank 1 is throwing a code, but I knew about it, its been throwing that code well before this problem EVER started... what IS new is that I am getting trouble codes thrown from my Torque Converter, and my Shift Seloniod .... I have a Chilton for my car, but it shows, or says NOTHING about a Shift Selonoid, and I cant find anything else on the transmission that might be one, althoug I dont know what im looking for.. Im thinking that maybe I have a short somewhere causing a power loss to the Shift Selonoid and Torque Converter... Problem is that my Chilton does not show wiring diagrams either... If anyone has ANY ideas, or knows anyone that might be able to give a few ideas, or suggestions, PLEASE feel free to e-mail me directly at [email protected] . I am just about at that point where I feel like selling it for what I can get out of it, but the car is paid for, and has been a great car up till this problem... Again, anyone that can help, or might can throw a few suggestions, of tell me where the Shift Selonoid is, I would be greatly appreciative!!!!! Thanks Again: S. Wesley Moore [email protected] |

I remember a problem like yours from many years ago, and I was thinking water leak to radio amp in the rear. Then I saw your post about waterleak. I " think" water is leaking on to your radio in the back of car.
Check behind the right rear interior quarter trim panel, ( i think it was right side ) for water leaking onto your radio. Yes that is your radio back there. The controls in the front are just controls, not an actual radio. I hope this info helps give you leads towards the cure, my memory of this problem is sketchy but since it is strange it did stick in my mind. I don't recall if radio had to be replaced but I do recall seeing a tech cut out the connector and for the radio and reconnecting each wire with new seperate connectors. Corroded?? Take a look , hope this helps. |
