Re: hey all people with 3.4 v6

alumin heads are crap man... you over heat them and they are done for, you best bet is to just have them ported and polished... also look into geting it balanced, bore and stoke to get some more displacement, look into some new rear gear ratios, etc. i got my 95 3.4L V6 pretty beefed up, out run Z28's, TransAM's, and run along side stock vettes... PM me if you want a list of mods that i have done... good luck to ya man

Re: hey all people with 3.4 v6

whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa

Aluminium heads are not crap, period. You might not like them, but they are quite awesome IMO. The weight difference is a bit, enough to notice a difference in ETs. My dads 69 Camaro SS/RS Pace Car came from the factory with Aluminium heads, 1 of 7. Overheating your car is not a valid excuse for not getting them, if you overheat your engine, something is wrong / your doing something wrong. And your aluminium heads wont "melt" as easily as you think.

Re: hey all people with 3.4 v6

you are right on what you said, i've just seen the worst side of them - so yeah that is my personal opinion, i should have stated that before... and your right as far as the weight differance etc. but from my experiance, the aluminum heads just dont hold up to what they should for the price you pay... but like i said, thats just my opinion... thanks cooltc2004...
and yeah, i got your PM, i sent you one back hope its helpful...

Re: hey all people with 3.4 v6

i didnt know that there was ever a FWD 3400 with alum heads. do you know what car it was out of? ill see what i can dig up for you. that would be a great thing to do to the 3.4, considering weight is its enemy. the only supercharger i have found for 3.4 is from some canadian company for 3grand. the port and polish any shop can do. and as far as i know there is no such stroker kit in exsistence for the 3.4. youre in the same boat i am, you want a fast 3.4, if it can be done, it will cost you dearly...

Re: hey all people with 3.4 v6

i just had a thought walkin back from class. wasnt the 3400 the dual overhead cam that came in some special version of the lumina in the early 90s. im not 100% sure, but i think thats where the 3400 was used. is someone could wedge one of those into an f-body it would be sweet. i read that the reason they didnt put it in the camaro originally is cause it would z28 a run for its money, even as a v-6.

I wonder if you could swap that engine into a firebird/camaro? Though, it would kind of be a waste of money IMO, but I wonder if that would even work? Such as it actually connecting to the transmission, motor mounts, etc? Just curious, since you said you read that they were going to put it in the camaro, but didn't since it would cost too much. btw, the cars i know of that GM put the 3400 DOHC engine in were the Lumina Z34, Monte Carlo Z34, and as jason said, the Grand Am's and Grand Prix's. All of them fwd of course. I've seen some people swap that engine into a Fiero. It was pretty sick.
