Just recently I got a ticking noise on my 1992 c/k 1500, 4.3L V6.
Goes away when the engine gets warm. I have no idea where it is coming from. Once the ticking goes away runs fine...but I have no idea why it started or what caused it. Any ideas? |

Re: Cold Ticking...
Typically, a ticking noise when cold is an exhaust leak. As the manifold warms up and expands, the leak goes away. Could be a broken bolt, bad gasket or cracked manifold.

Re: Cold Ticking...
Could also be the lifters or -gulp- piston slap.

Re: Cold Ticking...
Could be exhaust, but my first suspect would be a sticking lifter. Run some engine flush and then change oil. That may cure it.
