96 Z71 Timing Urgent!

How do I adjust timing on a 96 Z71 350 Vortec? I put in a new distributor et al, after discovering the old one was cracked when I replaced the intake manifold gasket before finding it that wasnt why it was spitting water out of the passenger side exhaust pipe...*sigh*...put 2 cans of block seal in it though, seemed to fix it right up, first time it's been moved in 5 months. I actually made it 150 miles on a Uhaul trailer seemingly designed with a S10 in mind... Had to let air out of the front tires to get the straps to go around, and jack up the back end to get the ramps back in....Half the back tires were hanging off! Anyway, funny story, but can anyone help me with the timing problem? Can it be timed without taking the distributor back out?
