2 Problems...connected?

I recently purchased a '95 SR5 4x4 and already have been experiencing problems. While traveling on the highway the truck lost all power and just quit. After having it in for serivice the tech's noticed a draw on the battery from an old alarm that fused itself to the truck and probably caused the shut down. Thinking everything was fine I headed back out onto the highway. I traveled about an hour without any trouble. The truck sat for the day and upon my return, not more than five minutes into the trip it began acting up. The truck lost all acceleration (like it had water in the tank), it really sucked you back into your seat. There was no accelerating at all. I pulled off but it didn't quit this time, but it didn't go either. If I depressed the gas pedal hard it would chug chug like riding a mechanical bull, bouncing us all over, but if I feathered the pedal it would slowly creep up to 20 then 40 etc. I got it back to 100 for a little while (5 min) then it recoiled again and limped along some more. The guru at the toyota dealership thinks its the ignition coil and I was wondering if anyone of you had any insights. Subsequently, the truck is not starting. There was no lead up to this either. It started fine up to yesterday, and now just clicking. Are these connected or I am just blessed with multiple problems? Any help would be appreicated.

Re: 2 Problems...connected?

Solve one symptom at a time - easiest one first. Get your starting system diagnosed. The starter clicking may mean a dead battery or bad solenoid contacts. Once you get the starter working, hopefully you will be able to see if they are connected or not.
