2000 Celica Engine Problems??

I am looking at buying a 2000+ Celica but I've heard about a few people with the 2000 model saying they've had enigne problems. Does anyone know if this is common, and if it was if they fixed it in the newer year Celicas? If anyone has any comments on this they would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

No, there is not a problem with the engine. The problems you may have heard about were blown engines from miss-shifting. Causing bent valves etc.. The only way this can happen is from driver error.

Re: 2000 Celica Engine Problems??

Only 2 problems I am aware of, one poor shifting aka misshifts and wear on the lift bolts that hold the rocker shafts. I have 69000 on my 2000 GT-S and have only had to replace the lift bolts.

This is the only other thing. The new style lift bolts distribute the stress equally accross the whole bolt, unlike the old ones which stress over a long period of time in the same spot would cause them to break.
