my 93 s 10 wont start?

I have a 93 s10 2.8 and it has always ran great, today wont start. I has spark but no gas to the engine. What might this be? fuel pump? It is above freezing 35 out tonight so it cant be frozen?

Probably your fuel pump, but you should check the relay first. Then the power going to the fuel pump, and the ground

Your fuel pump is in the gas tank. You can try banging it. If it starts then there's a 90% chance that it is the fuel pump.

Replace the fuel filter whenever you change the fuel pump, and whenever the owners manual sayes to.

To me it sounds like you've never done a tune up. Your truck will love it if you give it one when you have it running

thanks

thanks for the help. I got the truck from my father who was the only owner. It's in great shape and new paint. It has 150k but has always been kept up well. I will try banging on the pump in the morning.

actually I should have said bang on the tank, but I'm sure that you would have figured that out.

It sounds like you got a nice truck. I hope that you can keep it that nice.

If the fuel pump is shot you can either lift the box, or drop the fuel tank to replace it. Most people seem to prefer lifting the box

Re: my 93 s 10 wont start?

since the fuel pump is literally installed in the top of the fuel tank you have 2 choices.
1 - lift up the truck box to access the top of the fuel tank
2 - remove the gas tank

most people prefer to lift the box, and then you don't have to drain the fuel tank.

Nice opel's, do you have a web page with them on? And what do they have in for an engine?

Re: my 93 s 10 wont start?

There is a little connector in the wires near the AC stuff near the back of the engine. It is not connected to anything. It goes to the high side of the fuel pump. If you put a voltmeter on it (or a 12 V lamp to ground) it should have voltage when you first turn on the key and last for a few seconds. It will also be on when the engine is running. Also you can jumper it to 12 v and the pump should run manually, (on mine you can hear it running)

Re: my 93 s 10 wont start?

suddenly since your mentioning carpet I'm thinking that your sister has a Blazer. Then your stuck with dropping the fuel tank.

I wish that I could help you some more but short of going down there and helping you that's about all that I can do to help you.

The job will take anywhere from 2 to 4 hours

your Opel should go like a bat out of hell with that engine swap.

Wouldn't a turbo routery motor from a Mazda RX7 go good in there too?
