First Car Advice plz, h22a accord, or turbo supra
I am asking you for your opinion on whether to buy a 1993 accord great condition from my parents for probably 1 grand or, and 1987-1990 toyota supra turbo with a 3.0 liter v6 that costs around anywhere from 1000-3500 depending on the condition, plus me having to pick it up. I am going to get an h22a swap for the accord if i do chose to buy it. I am just wondering what will give me more overall fun to driveness and more power for less money. This will be my first car, so your opinion really matters to me, everyone on here seems really knowledgeable and your opinion will help me so much on deciding the right car. thank you for taking ur time and reading this, and if possible replying to this
thanks |

Personally I'd prefer a Supra for drifting purposes. All depends on what you plan on doing with the car. Chances are you'd get more looks with a Supra just because they aren't as common as an Accord.

It's hard to say. I've heard bad things about the H22, that it's not very reliable. I'd recommend the Supra.

I think it all depends on the condition of the H22 that you get. It can be a very reliable motor. But id go with the supra anyway, just because its rare and if you dont mind really boxy cars its pretty damn sick. Besides youll end up paying more for a good h22 w/ a swap, most likely.

Re: First Car Advice plz, h22a accord, or turbo supra
Of course you want something quick for your first car- but it will just get you in trouble. Go with the stock accord and drive it around for at least year before you get your hands on something you can't control (or have the sense to). Not trying to get all over you, but I have been driving for almost 20 years now and respect what speed can do now. I have an Acura TL-S which is quite fast, but I respect it. When I first started driving I had a early 70's muscle car and I think back now at how lucky I was not to have wrapped it around a tree. Just my two cents.

Cool. Drive it around for awhile, save up some $$, and get some time in behind the wheel. Then go crazy!

Re: First Car Advice plz, h22a accord, or turbo supra
First off, I don't know where you would find a turbo supra for 3 grand...I would think you are definantly underestimating the cost.
2ndly, they are 2 entirely different cars. The accord is a reliable sedan, the supra is a japanese sports car. There are just SOOOo many differences. Personally, after starting with an Accord and moving up to a vr4 (similar in many respects to a Supra) I think it is wise to stick with the Accord now. A Supra has a ton of power, and many more maintaince costs, insurance will be higher...just everything about it screams "not for teenagers". I can understand you desire to go fast...everyone has been there. But my vr4 with college has put soo many financial burdens on me, I wouldn't wish that upon any young person who wishes to enjoy themselves. As well I've had my share of scares and agree with Marc...you don't want to get a sports car and end up wrapping it around a tree at your age...I had plenty of friends do it...and not all of them lived through it. Hope that helps in your decision making. Just my .02

Re: First Car Advice plz, h22a accord, or turbo supra
i had the same decision to make a couple of weeks ago, except it was a 87 accord lxi for $100.00 or a 92 gsx for $2,800. i chose the accord but to my suprize i found $1.57 in the glove-box so i realy only paid $98.43 + tax.
I completly agree whith what Igovert500 sayd, it would probably be a good idea for you to get more driving experience before you buy something too fast. Fast cars kill. its a fact |
