Chips on eBay????

I'm not too interested because I don't trust that stuff being on my car, but I was wondering what those things do to make your car go faster. Some claim to make your car gain 40hp and they cost $35 . What's that all about?

Heres what a ranger dynoed:

1st Pull: 140.68/177.05
2nd Pull: 137.41/173.00

After removing the Wonder Chip

3rd Pull: 160.27/191.98
4th Pull: 161.73/187.22

Dyno proven to lose just about 25 hp. That about sums it up.

Re: Chips on eBay????

They trick the ECU with a resistor. It's pointless.

Re: Chips on eBay????

There are so many ECU chip scams out there, it sometimes is hard to weed out the lemons from the real performers.

Re: Chips on eBay????

Actually, it's very easy. Only TS and JWT are proven to be effective performance mods for our cars.

If were talking about the 2 cent resistor mod its complete garbage. A real chip that you plug into the pcm can yield hp gains, but a chip is only as good as its tuner.

It's only easy if you aren't new to modding, which isn't everyone.

Getting some more injection from ECU [warm engine] with 2 cent resistor is easy, DIY. Btw. All Power comes only from GAS in a gasoline engine:

Paying for it more than 2 cents is complete garbage...

Re: Chips on eBay????

I don't believe it. I just ran across these resistor kits on ebay and had to search this formun to see whats going on. Now we are fooling the ECU into believing that the engine is cold. I guess that would work.

Nahkapohjola, the device you explain seems to show another switch while the ebay device shows only a resistor pluged into a connector.. No idea how a person is suppose to plug the connector back with the resistor in place. I don't get it.

I think I will go back to putting cow magnets on the gas line. I am told it aligns the electrons up in straight line and thus the fuel burns faster, better or more efficient,,,,or something like that. Sounds good.

So did anyone buy the resistor type and how does it install vs the switch/resistor mod.
