Question on Backup cam and navigation

I already have the navigation package in my truck when I bought it was in it along with the rear dvd package. My question is the Radioshack by me does backup cam installations. Does it interfere with the GM Navigation system? The reason I ask is because my dad has a Lexus and we tried to put a remote start in it, and it just wouldn't work. Anyone have any expierence?

Re: Question on Backup cam and navigation

Hi,
if you want to use the nav unit screen to watch the backup cam then you will have to send it to a place that will take it apart to add an input. Not cheap.
How about adding a monitor just for the cam?
As for the starter on the Lexus, did you use the right interface modules from DEI?
Take care, Eggert

Re: Question on Backup cam and navigation

We gave up on the Lexus remote start and since moving to LA it's not really a big problem as not many cold days.

As for the back up camera I was thinking it would cost like 300 Bucks max right? On my screen I have numerous sources, like if I want the DVD sound to be piped through my speakers so I can listen. Can't I just jack into that Input/Output?

Hi,
you can put the audio from the DVD to the stereo, but you will need the video from the camera. That is the input they will have to add. This is not cheap.

Yep, it can be done. As for the Lexus, I have no idea why you couldn't get it done. One of my biggest clients is a Lexus dealer.

Jack, go to www.jpcustoms.com. They have the part that will interface with your Nav to make it happen. I'm getting it for both my H2 and Yukon.
