Hiya,
Nearly done with my R33GTR (piccies when I fix my camera ) but I kind of bodged the window frames on the clear part. I thought I'd masked it all nicely, but had forgotten to do one of the rear-side windows so it's now nicely black. How can I get the paint off and start again, without ruining the part? Thanks |

Dip it in Castrol Super Clean, it'll take the paint right off without harming the clear plastic.
Or you could try isopropyl alchohol (rubbing alcohol) if it hasn't had too much time to cure, but it might streak and make it even messier (don't say I didn't warn you.) |

Hmm, Castrol Super Clean, eh... don't know if we can get that over here, but I'll have a look in Halfords tomorrow.
Thanks. |

Mr Muscle oven cleaner is very good at removing Tamiya paints. Not tried it on TS sprays yet!

There is a great product ive been using for a while called 'modelstrip', this will explain the details...http://www.brma.asn.au/hinttips/paintstr.htm
Anyway i tried it out on the '98 scooby windscreen etc that got screwed up when the masks leaked and after i got a replacement. It was enamel paint i used and it came off no problem as it always does, but i was expecting the part to be fogged but it wasn't, not even a little hazy! its great stuff!!!

I have to agree with Guiddy. I've used Mr Muscle Foam to remove Tamiya Acrylics from clear parts before. (Tail-lights, that I didn't like the finish on). It works a treat.
Regards Mark ...Damn Castrol - When are you gonna start selling Super Clean over here? |

You may not get Castrol Super Clean, but we don't get your nice Halford auto sprays
Say, any of you brits mind sending me some Halfords Ford Midnight Blue for my '67 Mustang Fastback? It'd be much appreciated, I'll pay

I bought some Mr Muscle during my weekly shop today, and have just foamed up the R33 window piece now. I assume I treat it as an oven, and let it sit for 30mins before doing anything to it?

Right, well leaving it for an hour yesterday did nothing, so I left it for 5 today, and still nothing
I have one very black looking clear part still, I can't think I've done this wrong, so what else can I try? |

I just use rubbing compound to get rid of stains on clear, no hassle.

go get a bottle of cloudy ammonia from the household section of your local supermart. I used it to get tamiya X-18 off my SW20's clear parts.
Works a charm, even after the paint had cured for a week. Only costs 2 bucks for a 1L bottle |
