Get a bunch of your modeling friends together, rent out a hotel ball room, a convention center or something to that nature and advertise it all over the place...

Re: Starting modeling contests

You're pretty much on your own, unless you have a club in the city you're in. Here in Massachusetts we are contest rich, with at least 7 contests a year.

Re: Starting modeling contests

Model competitions are normaly run by model clubs. Ask around and see if there are any in your area. Model shop and phone book would be a good place to start looking.

Our local club holds our show at the library, in one of the conference rooms.

The two big things about organizing a show are
1) Advertise Advertise Advertise Advertise Advertise Advertise Advertise Advertise Advertise Advertise Advertise Advertise Advertise Advertise

and
2) date of the event

Our last show was held with no advertising outside the single flyer in the hobby shop, and was held on the same weekend the local K-12 schools get out for the summer. Attendance was EXTREMELY low, and some contestants got awards just because they were the only person in their catagory, and another award went unclaimed.

Also, nobody in the club is eligible for an award, so people won't think it's fixed.
