85 Accord startup (Fuel?) problem
Just bought a 1085 Accord. Kicks over fine. Put gas in the carb and it starts for a second. Replace both fuel filters. When I kick it over I can see fuel coming from the fuel lines but it just wont start. Any suggestions?
Thanks.... Dave.. |

Re: 85 Accord startup (Fuel?) problem
I'm guessing that's a carbed model? If so, try this: Take the fuel line off at the carb, spray straight into the inlet some carb cleaner (careful don't backspray your eyes, easy to do). It should go in easy, if not, the float or valve is stuck, and not admitting any fuel to the carb. Let it sit like that for an hour or so, then repeat. Once it opens up, fill the bowl with cleaner and put the fuel line back on. Start the motor (it'll run on the carb cleaner) if it still dies out, keep doing this until it straightens out. If the car has been sitting for any length of time, I almost guarantee this is the problem.
