throttle body
Hello
Ok so i was wondering if i should get a new holly throttle body for my 90 c1500 or just rebuild my stock one. The reason i ask this is because the holley throttle body claims that i could get 25% more horsepower but i don't know if this number is realistic. Or if i should just go with my existing stock throttle body. please respond soon because there is one for a good price on ebay. thank you |

a/c delco does sell a gasket kit if you decide to rebuild yours. I think I paid $40 for the kit (have not rebuilt mine yet but was planning to later this year). I also spray clean mine every now and then with TB Cleaner. //2000CAYukon |

Re: throttle body
I think (I didn't look into it at all) the power gains they claim are probably from built-in throttle body and fuel injector spacers. You could probably get those for about what shipping would cost on the new unit.

Re: throttle body
bince, do yourself a big favor and try to get your hands on a holley # 502-6. Sure, they SAY it's only made for 87-89 350s, but it will work through 91, depending on the truck. The only difference in the 350s from 87-95 (for the most part) is the TPS hookup. Your 1990 will bolt right in, and you will be happy. Hmmm, O.E.M (450 cfm, 55# injectors) or Holley (670 cfm, 68# injectors)
Have fun!

Re: throttle body
You know, I don't know why Holley doesn't just put the newer style TPS on their 670 cfm throttle body and make tons of more people happy. Nevertheless, I just got back from a junkyard, I got a TPS clip from the wiring harness of a 4.3 TBI in a caprice. The basic wiring is the same whether it's a 4.3, 305, or 350, so I just bought it for five bucks! Now all I need to do is splice it into my harness using the three wires that are there. I think they're even color coded: Gray, Black, and Blue, I think. So I'll do that if it ever cools down today, and I'll keep everyone informed. I think people have done this before...
