Question Front passenger side turn signal lights up when hitting the brakes?!?!?

Front passenger side turn signal lights up when hitting the brakes on 97 Chevy 2500 ext LWB. In dash light comes on as well (right turn). The turn signal operates normal.

Already checked the rear light assembly and trailer wiring harness - both seem to be ok.

Problem is not permanent yet, but seems to be happening more and more often.

Any suggestions??

This sort of problem usually comes back to a bad ground at one of the lamp sockets.

Sherman69 beat me to the punch. Bad ground is almost always answer for this type of problem.

The filaments in the light could be touching also, happened to me, and someone I know.

normaly the ground is the first thing to check. I had a prob with mine once and it was the blinker switch. the hazards blinker brights all work off the same switch. when i depressed the brake my hazards would come on. just a thought!

Re: Front passenger side turn signal lights up when hitting the brakes?!?!?

reher555 is right. these are all through the turn signal switch on the column, with the exception of the hazards. They are on a different flasher. I would check all grounds and change the bulbs. If it still does it, dive into the steering column. Be careful with that air bag in there, pull the fuse and lett it sit for atleast 20 minutes to drain the residual power left in the AIR BAG system before working on it!
