Engine Low Idle.

I start my car first thing in the morning and It starts right up and idles fine. But then after the car is warmed up and run for awhile and I shut it off and then start it back up again its idles up and then imidiatly drops to 200,300,400 rpm and somtimes I stall. I rev it and its really rough but then Its fine. Then when I stop at red lights and stuff its fine. I dont get it.

I have had the identical problem and I never figured it out. It's really weird and it only occassionally does it to me; it's like the engine is struggling and if you rev it up it sounds like it's backfiring really badly.

Re: Engine Low Idle.

i too have the same problem i though it was because there was too much oil in the engine because my oil temp at idle was way bellow normal temp. when i rev it's fine but then when the needle goes down it all most stalls. maybe its just because my engine is shot to shit i just don't know ?

Re: Engine Low Idle.

Have you helped yourselves? Have you checked your plugs...have your pressure tested for boost/vacuum leaks?

Your 1996 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 is the 92nd out of the 315 that were made that year. Only 21 of which are exactly identical.

Re: Engine Low Idle.

its def your IAC. you can pick up a use one for like 50 bucks or just rebuilts. the coils go back inside and it make out cars a bitch to drive. i used to hate when mine did that. you can take it out and try to clean it with some intake cleaner. its right on your TB. (bottom left if you are looking at it from the passenger side...) hope this helps.
