Radiator fluid smell
I need some help. I have a 97 Jimmy 4x4 that I can't figure out. I have a radiator smell inside the truck all the time. I don't have any sign of a heater core problem, is there anything else it could be? I say its not the heater core just because I don't see any fluid on the floor board, is that a bad assumption. Is the heater core easy to change?

Re: Radiator fluid smell
you have a leak in the heater core. It's small enough that it's not dripping on the floor but blowing up through the vent system. Replace it.

Re: Radiator fluid smell
I would also look at the intake manifold and check for moisture where it meets the block just under the egr valve..the gasket maybe leaking..Mine is and I also smell antifreeze inside of the truck..

well somebody that has the same problem i have .this is what is going on first of all when you smell the fluid is it only commin from inside the truck if so you problem is in the heater core i had a very small pin leak in mine just enought to sit at the bottom of the heater core to make it smell in the truck...now if you smell it when the hood is up the problem is not the heater core so check hoses...

coolant smell
I posted this same type of problem awhile back. Took it to the dealer and turned out to be leaking seals on the thermostat not the heater core.

Re: Radiator fluid smell
If the smell is strong inside the cabin, you need to replace the heater core or check to see if the heater core coolant connections are tight.
