1999 V6 Camaro Problem - Please Advise

I have a 1999 Camaro V6 with some aches .

There are a couple of things wrong with my camaro, and i'm unsure what to do about it, here they are:

- Loses oil pressure peiodically, change oil = pressure back up for a lil while (day or two).

- First start it up, sounds like a sticky lifter, and knocks rhytmically for the first 30 seconds or so.

We've hooked it up to a garage diagnostic and it shows no problems.

Please advise!!

Thanks in advance everybody!

Oil pump would be my first move in that case, since it knocks I would assume it probably has little or no oil pressure for those first 30 secs. I would consider that a very big deal and would make sure it is fixed before running it much more, lack of oil is probably the #1 killer of engines.

Any time a lifter starts talking, you need to listen, and accompanied by a rythmic knock, definately not good. Forget the diagnostics. You have a lack of lubrication on your hands. Start with the basics by changing out the oil and filter (and examine the filter contents!). If it persists afterwards, you're going to need to go after the pump and pick up screen.

I have the same problem in my 1979 Camaro. It is a bad lifter. It ticks for a few seconds after starting and when the lifter fills up with oil it stops. Been wanting to replace it for some time. Havn't gotten the time to do so.
