Lightbulb 300zx Veliside progress

My intent with this kit was going to be a quick build before i start on a more serious project, but i recieved the kit and got started. Removed the bumpers and and fitted the resin pieces on. Come to find out i have the same problem cadguy had with the resin pieces being too small (about 2 mm) so i cut them in half, cut out some pieces of styrene glued them in between and puttied them. So much for a quick build. Oh well, also the wheels i got with the kit are garbage something to put on a lex or a benz definetly not a z. I think i might go with a red for the body. Well here are some shots, comments and suggestions please.

These wheels came with the kit but i think im not going to use them.

Nice work looks like she's ready for primer, I know what you mean about the resin parts being too small, i had the same probs with the veilside MR2 that im currently working on. Like you i wanted a quick build, but i spent a whole day fixing up the front/rear end doing some putty and styrene work.

Now I built the mk1 version of this and had no fit problems at all. It could be they have changed their resin or the moulds since mine i dont know, your nose actually looks a little longer than mine, also why dont you cut the roof panels out ,I assume the clear sprue has the inserts on it, it changes the look of the car completely.

Re: 300zx Veliside progress

makes me wanna build a 300zx
you could use some 19's to fill those guards...

those veilside wheels actually look good when you put a deep dish rim on them!

Re: 300zx Veliside progress

A little progress on this beast before my vacation is over, primed the body white over grey. I finally think its ready for paint tomorrow.

The lower lip still has to be sanded down and primed, will have to do that before i lay down paint.

Re: 300zx Veliside progress

Sprayed with tamiya italian red, polished. Still need to paint the front lip. The wheels are just a mock up, i don't think im going to use them because they look too bling bling for it. Waiting for other wheels to come in the mail. What do you guys think so far?

Re: 300zx Veliside progress

I think it looks really good man, but deffinately dont use those wheels, they look horrible on it. And the rims can make or break the look of the car, and in this case they would deffinaly break it. Don't kill all your wonderful hard work with a bad choice in rims..............*Ryan*
