SAS Body kit - Skyline need help to remove the hood.

Not sure how to do this, but I've read an FAQ and I need some more advice. Anyone in the UK can also help, but where is a cheap and good place to buy a dental probe to scribe out a panel line?

I want to cut the hood of a R34 Skyline, as I'm going to buy this body kit for it -

http://www.scaleautostyle.com/SkylineN.php

I just feel R34 Skylines are better looking with a good body kit on them, and the ones on SAS are well tasty..!!

Reading this FAQ -

http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...threadid=61545

I scribe the hood panel line to make a deeper line, then I use a knife to slowly cut it away. Now I take it the new hood has a lip to glue it back on with? Does the owner of SAS visit these forums? If so perhaps he can answer.

The front and rear bumper and sides are well easy to apply, as the kit I have is already a five piece body, I only need to remove the hood, and this should not be that hard, if I get the right information.

Also anywhere else I can buy the S27 photo etch parts -

http://www.mediamixhobby.com.sg/cata...oducts_id=1027

Are out of stock. I'm going to remove the almost pointless badges in the rear boot lid, as they will perhaps get hidden in paint anyhow. I'll use photo etch badges instead.

This project is going to be my first modification kit. Although TBH, SAS and S27 will supply the modifications, all I've got to do is attach them..

Watch this space..!! It's going to be fun..

EDIT - Actually reading further down the FAQ, it tells you where to get a dental probe. So scrap that question..!!

Hi Mick,

As far as I can remember you're from England, right? Well, I just checked Studio 27's website: http://www.kiwi-us.com/~studio27/e/index2.htm
and this link will let you know of their stockists list.

They have Autosport Models http://www.autosport-models.com/ as one English trader & Grand Prix Models http://www.grandprixmodels.com/ as the other.

Don't know if they have what you need but they have plenty other retailers in Europe who stock their product.

Hope this helps

Thanks Sticky Fingers - Yes I am in the UK. I did visit S27 home page but it was in Japanese, and I don't speak a word of Japanese.

Neither of them two suppliers have the item in stock.. Typical..!!

Have to put this item on backorder... TBH, I've not planned this project well.. I should have brought all the parts BEFORE starting the model. Might get the parts ordered and start something where I don't need to order a lot of aftermarket parts..

The owner of SAS is Flyonthewall.

He made an hot-to for that:

Remember one thing, you will probably not use the "old" hood anymore. so if you need to cut it badly to get the body fine, do it. If you need to cut the hood in many piece to get it right, do it.

you should also use superglue or epoxy to glue the resin part to the plastic body.

When you say super glue - do you mean any type of super glue, such as loctite, or Tamiya CA. I've got both, which is better?

Also looking on sas website, I think I can see a lip for the hood.. Hope this is enough to glue it back on with..!!

Just ordered the SAS kit.. Hope I can fit it..!! Should be ok, as long as I'm careful, and don't cut badly, or my fingers..!!

Should look pretty cool.. Getting the N style kit, as the hood looks great..!!

Re: SAS Body kit - Skyline need help to remove the hood.

Use the kit bumper part to hold the fenders at the proper distance while you affix the hood.

Followed flyonthewall guide to remove my skyline hood, and it worked.. It has been cut off, and the hood is still whole.. I worked slowly using the back of my hobby knife and it worked a treat..

Just got to wait for my SAS kit to arrive, and I'm all sorted..!! Thanks flyonthewall - top guide, well useful..

Anyone need a hood for a skyline - ha..!! I've just got a spare one by the looks of it..!!
