Help me decide which project car to build next!
Hey guys, new to the forums. I have a couple different cars in mind as my next project car. Give me your opinions on the following:
2nd Gen Eclipse/Talon Turbo AWD 91-95' Toyota MR2 Turbo 91-92' Toyota Supra Turbo Which one do you guys think would be a better project car. The pros-cons I've run into for each one is as follows: DSM/Talon- Worried about crankwalk and the AWD differential being bad MR2 Turbo- Pain in the ass to work on in general Supra- Not to sure about the styling and the power of the motor |

Not the MkIII Supra since it's really heavy and I think the aftermarket while good is not as good as the DSM's or the MR2's I choose the MR2 Turbo for great handling, looks, and a motor that is really stout and very bulletproof...can hold over 500whp on stock internals... Good stuff... |

Thats kind of along the lines I was thinking. The MR2 is an awesome platform to build-on, its just the fact of actually being able to work on it with ease. Compares to the DSM/Talon, which is right there. I was having a hard time with the MKIII Supra becaue of the fact that I'm an MKIV lover, and downgrading to an MKIII from the MKIV is very hard. Thanks for the feedback! |

The MK3 Supras are notoriously unreliable, and parts are expensive and not as common as for the other two. The DSM would be my pick; it's not overly reliable either, but parts are cheap and it's very easy to work on. The MR2 Turbo would work just fine too, if it's more your style than the DSM.

I mean the DSM yes is cheap and cheap to fix and cheap to fast on...but coming from a MkIV...you wont want that kind of unreliability...the MR2 Turbo can give you that and it weighes less than the 2nd gen...can launch pretty well considering it's MR setup...and the motor is amazing...

Re: Help me decide which project car to build next!
Very true, and because I'm a Toyota guy, I'd be perfectly happy with the MR2 Turbo. But the DSM is just overall cheaper to get performance out of, and I'm an AWD afficionado. However, you are right, the MR2 can launch just as well due to the rearward weight bias.

Re: Help me decide which project car to build next!
The only kind of thing that would say the MR2 has against it is that if you go with higher hp *around 400+" u need to make some kind of air duct ontop of the roof to re-route air. While i have seen some of these setups that look good most look horrible.
