Disorganized? Try this

OK, so we all have messy work areas, right? Well I was walking around Big Lots the other day (Hey, when Jerry Van Dyke talks, you listen) and found drawer set from Sterlite. It was about $5, and has three drawers, each 7" wide by 8" deep by 3.5" tall.

These can fit a lot of stuff: Knives, saws, bottles, sanding sticks, files, miter boxes, tape, etc. I am able to get about 35 1/2 ounce bottles of Tetors Acryl in a drawer, and probably the same number of Tamiya 'mini' bottles. I'll be making a 'grid' out of basswood strips to keep the bottles evenly spaced and keep them from moving around. I'd suggest the same thing to make slots and compartments to keep other things better organized.

The downside is that things like airbrush bottles and glues bottles can't stand upright, so I am going to buy another and experiment with cutting out the floor of one drawer, and gluing the sides to the bottom drawer, doubling the height.

I also have some larger drawers, about 24" tall, that are on wheels that I slide under my work bench. I use them to hold larger objects I don't need all the time, like my spray cans, compressor, Dremel tool and soldering iron, and my R/C charger and battery box. Pics of those coming later.

PS: The white stickers on the paint lids are Avery 1/2" x 3/4" labels. It makes it a LOT easier to find what you want. It sure beats picking them up at random: "Nope....nope....nope..."
