External Trans filter and cooler conversion?

OK, Here is the deal, I have a 94 SE with the Auto Trans that you can't change the filter without splitting the trans case (Local Ford dealer only had one Tech out of three that could tell me this). My idea is to pull the valve body on my Trans, which I already did last week. There is a hole behind the valve body that you can stick your finger in a touch the filter. I want to cut a hole in the filter so that the fluid can flow through easly. Then use a remote oil filter which is easy to install and cheap to buy from JC Whitney. Last I want to add a Trans Cooler. Does aneone think it will do any good?
