trailer towing

hey how bad is it for a PA with a 4T60 to tow a trailer with a snowmobile in it? i got a giant size tranny oil cooler on it.

im not towing 5000 lbs here.. just a small trailer with a 400 pound sled.

Re: trailer towing

You'll be okay with that, but install a trans temp guage. My cousin burned up a 91 ultra's tranny towing. The fluid came out looking like overused motor oil, pitch black. Overdrive never worked right again. I'd suggest towing in 3rd if possible, and manually shift the auto tranny. if there is a lot of tongue weight(200lbs or more) use a weight distributing hitch and lifter bars.

And take off slow, be gentle, and BE CAREFUL!
