engine check, rough idle, hard start, dies

99 Rodeo V6, engine light on, rough idle-the whole car shakes, but it's ok when you drive. when car is warm, car starts but dies after few second when rpm go up & down. What gives?
(went to Auto Zone for code check, P0171 & P0174 cylinder #4 misfiring) what's the likely cause - coil ignition, mass flow air sensor, bad intake gasket or others.

(mileage : 86000)

(changed Fuel filter today 3-20-05, the car is less shaky, engine light still on)

where can i find a cylinder identification diagram online. Need to know which is #4.

Good chance you have a bad intake manifold gasket. Also, may be time for some new spark plugs, fuel & air filter, and a good cleaning of the EGR and throttle body. Replace the PCV as well.

My guess is that the IMG is causing this though. I had the same problem several months ago. It was a real pain to drive.

How many miles on the truck will help?

marcre is on the right track.

I offer this because it sounds identical to what I had at 30K miles. Rough idle. A new fuel filter and a can of BG44K fuel cleaner, and I was running great again.

But, intake manifold is a common issue.

I'm the least mechanically inclined person on the forum, so big grain of salt.

Keep tuned, more advice from others is sure to come.
