03 Eclipse amplifier install
I am installing an sub and amplifier in a 2003 Eclipse. She is keeping the stock Infinity sound system in the car. Does that sound system have audio outputs to plug my RCA's into or do I need to use a line converter? If I need to use the converter, what are the wire colors I need to tap into? Also, is there an easy place to run the power wire out thru the firewall? Any help would be appreciated.

Hey, the factory amp will work fine as along as the head unit has midrange RCA outputs on it.
As far as the main power wire goes, your best bet is probably through the driver side fender, and through the same hole that the interior fuse box wires go through. open your door and with a coat hanger connect the power wire to the end of it at the battery terminal end, then slowly drag it through and jimmy it into the hole. It kinda a pain in the ass, but it may be easier than drilling a new hole in the firewall. I am assuming you are using another amp for a subwoofer...otherwise you dont even need another power source. Good luck. |

OHHHH, sorry, I thought that you meant she was using the factory amp and putting in a new head unit. You should probably still use the factory amp for the midrange, but I dont think the factory head unit has a "sub out" RCA for it. If you are putting a woofer in I would probably go with an aftermarket head unit, still use the factory amp for the midrange, and then use the sub out line for your sub. Otherwise i think you might get a lot of other frequencies sent to the sub that you dont want, and it will sound like kaka.
