2004 have my fog lights automcatically turn on?
Is it possible for the fog lights to turn on by default when the headlights turn on at night? My last car, the fog lights didn't make much of a difference in the brightness of the road, but this car, it is a big difference. It would be nice if they turned on by default.

nope you will have to turn on the fog lights every time on your own, I nkow its annoying as hell but there is no way to have them on all the time.

That's fine. I just wanted to make sure that there wasn't a hidden option somewhere in the car that I wasn't aware of.

You could tap into the power wire for the headlights, and run them that way.
The only consideration would be how much current they draw. I don't know how much, but if it's not bad you could keep the same headlight fuse. If they are a large draw, you may want to consider a relay instead so you don't overload the headlight wires and fuse. |

I'm not going to do any modification to my wiring. My car last less than 1,000 miles on it. I am not about to destroy my wiring. I just thought maybe there was a hidden option that would make them turn on by default that I didn't notice.

Quote:
there is nothing worse than someone using their super bright fog lamps when its not foggy, it blinds the people in front of you and oncoming drivers double check your laws as you may find the police pulling you over for using them when theyre not needed (ive seen this happen personally) here is the traffic act for ontario (probably doesnt apply to you) Lamps required on all motor vehicles except motorcycles 62. (1) When on a highway at any time from one-half hour before sunset to one-half hour after sunrise and at any other time when, due to insufficient light or unfavourable atmospheric conditions, persons and vehicles on the highway are not clearly discernible at a distance of 150 metres or less, every motor vehicle other than a motorcycle shall carry three lighted lamps in a conspicuous position, one on each side of the front of the vehicle which shall display a white or amber light only, and one on the rear of the vehicle which shall display a red light only. R.S.O. 1990, c. H.8, s. 62 (1). Other interesting part is: Attachment that affects lamps prohibited (7) No person shall drive upon a highway a motor vehicle if either or both of the lamps that are required on the front of the vehicle by subsections (1), (2) and (3), (a) are coated or covered with a coloured material; or (b) have been modified by the attachment to the lamps or the motor vehicle of any device that reduces the effective area of the lenses or the intensity of the beam of the lamps. 2002, c. 18, Sched. P, s. 19 (1). This is interesting the next time someone is blinding you from behind: Strength of front lamps (9) No motor vehicle shall carry on the front thereof more than four lighted lamps that project a beam having an intensity of over 300 candela. R.S.O. 1990, c. H.8, s. 62 (9). basically you cant have coloured foglights or foglamps and regular lights over 300 candela blah blah, however police can pull you over for using them together if they feel its an unsafe condition, on this section of road (we have military police), we have had numerous complaints of fog lamps (we start work early) when there is absolutely no fog... there is a reason the fog lights dont come on automatically |
