Exhaust Question

A guy at my work just got his exhaust done on his car and it sounds pretty good and what they done was just cut the mufflers off and ran straight pipes back to tips. I was thinking if I did this with my truck it would be way!!! to loud. Any thoughts?

It's going to be extremely loud, and I honestly believe you would lose some power. In stock/slightly modified form, these trucks do need some backpressure. I have a nice sound with the truck with the cats cut off/long tube headers/dual magnaflows. Really deep, but not raspy.
