89 Max vs 98 Talon (round 2)

I had my second run-in with the same 98 talon from a while back (for those of you who don't remember {who are probably all of u} we ran from about 40-70 from the bottom of third gear and I kept up with him--I was confused because he was running rich...wasn't sure if he was turbo or not and he apparently wasn't)

I am turning left to go onto the onramp to head to school but stop since there is traffic coming, look in my rear view mirror cuz I see a car comin to a stop right on my rear bumper, and who do I see? That black eagle talon. There is a break in traffic, so I take off normally and keep it in second gear at about 40 mph. There is a break in traffic, so I floor it and shoot across both lanes and run out second gear. I shift quickly into third right as I'm passing a school bus (probably a bad idea...but too late now) and there is an opening past the school bus for me to be able to see this guy. He is about the same distance back as from where we were on the on-ramp. I take it up to about 80 mph then shift to fifth and just cruise at about 80, with him cuttin in behind me and tailin me.

We turn on to the same road as where I kept up with him up to 70, and I run second gear all the way out then just cruise up the road goin approx. 60 mph. He just stays with me, then follows me through most of the parking lot, then turns off and parks while I continue to where I'm goin to park because of class. I see him walkin down to the school a minute later and he gives me this look like he thinks I'm an asshole or somethin, which makes me laugh.

So, what do you guys think? Do you think thats decent for a 16 year old car with almost 196K miles on it? Granted, the talon has 20 less HP stock, but it also weighs in at about 400 lbs less.

I don't think anything was proven by your experience, there's no way for you to know that he was giving it his all.

Re: 89 Max vs 98 Talon (round 2)

I have a feeling he was...I mean the first time we went at it I stayed right with him, and like last time I stayed right with him, and he had plenty of time to shoot past me this time. I honestly believe he was trying.

Re: 89 Max vs 98 Talon (round 2)

I say the Max has still got it. Nice job buddy. It'll be sad when the time comes to put her down. But my bud had a 91 Max before, and that thing kept on going up to about 270K miles before it finally died. Good job keeping up. That's pretty funny the dude gave you the stink eye because he couldn't lose you. L8...

Re: 89 Max vs 98 Talon (round 2)

thanx civ, glad to see someone thinks my max still has umph in her but yeah...he could have gotten around me so easily...IF he wasn't tryin...he had plenty of room, even farther down the road before we turned off. I dunno...I just really think he was honestly tryin to pass me. either way, I had fun.
